The Steinbach Haus is a remarkable piece of 17th-century architecture that was relocated from France to Texas, now serving as the Castroville Visitors Center.
Originally constructed between 1618 and 1648 in Wahlbach, France, the Steinbach Haus is a stunning example of medieval fachwerk architecture. The home was carefully disassembled and shipped to Castroville in 1998 as a gift from the people of Alsace. Reassembled by volunteers, it now stands as a testament to the strong Alsatian heritage of the area. Visitors can explore the two-and-a-half-story structure, which features traditional wooden pegs and authentic furnishings donated by individuals from Alsace.

The house is open Wednesday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
